Hong Kong > Macao

high-speed ferry: frequent, convenient and efficient services

high-speed ferries depart frequently from Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan and China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui for either Macau Maritime Ferry Terminal or Taipa Ferry Terminal, where you can find free shuttle buses to reach various hotels. The ferry journey is only one hour.

Gold Bus: a low-fare option

The Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge shuttle bus, also known as Gold Bus, costs from HK$65 per one-way trip which is about 45 minutes. During peak hours, service is available every five to 10 minutes. The Hong Kong Port bus terminal is located near Hong Kong International Airport.

Cross-boundary coach: plenty of pick-up points, straight to your hotel

Cross-boundary coaches can be found in numerous locations in Kowloon and the New Territories. Hop on and relax until you arrive at the door of your hotel in Macao. The journey takes around two hours and you can depart from locations across Hong Kong — the actual time depends on where you choose to set off from.

Hong Kong > Guangzhou

high-speed rail: all speed and comfort

Once you board the train at Hong Kong West Kowloon Station, it takes one hour to arrive at Guangzhounan (Guangzhou South) Station. The frequent service and comfortable seats make this the ideal choice for families.

Cross-boundary coach: multiple pick-up points and cheap fare

The trip from Hong Kong to Guangzhou city centre is about three hours. The main advantages are the low fare (a one-way journey costs about HK$100) and the fact that you can board from one of the many pick-up points across Hong Kong.

Hong Kong > Shenzhen

MTR: a cost-efficient choice

The East Rail Line operated by MTR provides speedy and affordable train services to Shenzhen from Sheng Shui station via Lo Wu (seven minutes) and Lok Ma Chau (12 minutes).

high-speed rail: all speed and comfort

Trains depart regularly from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station for Futian and Shenzhenbei (Shenzhen North) stations. In exchange for the relatively higher fare, you are guaranteed a seat and a comfortable experience, and the whole journey takes merely 14 to 15 minutes.

Cross-boundary coach: top choice for departure from New Territories West

There are cross-boundary coaches going from Hong Kong Island, Kowloon and the New Territories to Shenzhen. If you are departing from New Territories West, choose the coaches going to Huanggang and Shenzhen Bay to save time and money. The journey time varies based on your point of departure.

Hong Kong > Zhuhai

Gold Bus: a low-fare option

It takes around 40 minutes to reach Zhuhai on the Gold Bus from the Hong Kong Port bus terminal near Hong Kong International Airport. In addition to the cheap single-trip fare of about HK$70, service is available every five to 10 minutes during peak hours.

Cross-boundary coach: numerous pick-up points, arriving at the city centre

You can get to the city centre of Zhuhai by taking frequently available cross-boundary coaches from the numerous pick-up points on Hong Kong Island or in Kowloon and the New Territories. The journey takes around 75 minutes via the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge but the actual time varies depending on your departure point.

high-speed ferry: fast, convenient with checked baggage service

Ferries depart daily for Zhuhai Jiuzhou Port from Hong Kong-Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan and China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui. The journey takes around 70 minutes. Access to a WC and food is available on board. Those leaving after a shopping spree can take advantage of checked baggage services.

Hong Kong > Foshan

high-speed rail: all speed and comfort

It takes 90 minutes to travel from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Foshanxi (Foshan West) Station by high-speed rail, whose key selling point is the comfortable compartment.

Cross-boundary coach: go straight to the city centre at a low cost

While it takes roughly three hours to reach Foshan by cross-boundary coach, the fare is relatively cheap (about HK$120 for a one-way trip), service is frequent and it takes you straight to the city centre.

Hong Kong > Huizhou

high-speed rail: all speed and comfort

It takes about 70 minutes to travel between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Huizhounan (Huizhou South) Station. There are 10 trains every day to provide flexibility for travellers.

Cross-boundary coach: numerous pick-up points and frequent service

A trip to Huizhou on the cross-boundary coach takes 2.5 to three hours. The fare is only slightly cheaper than the high-speed rail. However, service is more frequent and there are many pick-up points in Hong Kong to offer greater convenience.

Hong Kong > Dongguan

high-speed rail: the cost-efficient option

Over 30 trains travel between Hong Kong West Kowloon Station and Humen Station daily. The trip takes about 39 to 45 minutes. To save cost, consider taking the high-speed rail to Shenzhenbei (Shenzhen North) Station and from there change to another train to Humen Station. The journey time is roughly the same but the fare is cheaper.

Cross-boundary coach: low fare, numerous pick-up points

Cross-boundary coaches going to Dongguan can be found on Hong Kong Island and in Kowloon and the New Territories. The entire journey is about three hours. Tickets cost approximately HK$100, so it is another money-saving option.

Hong Kong > Zhongshan

Ferries depart daily for Zhongshan Port from the Hong Kong–Macau Ferry Terminal in Sheung Wan and China Ferry Terminal in Tsim Sha Tsui. The journey takes around 90 minutes. Access to a WC and food is available on board, together with checked baggage service.

Cross-boundary coach: money-saving option with multiple pick-up points

The trip from Hong Kong to Zhongshan takes about three hours. Though the trip is long, it is cheaper than the ferry and you can choose from many pick-up points.

Hong Kong > Jiangmen

high-speed rail: fast and comfortable

The quickest way to get to Jiangmen is to take the high-speed rail from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Guangzhounan (Guangzhou South) Station, and from there change trains to Jiangmendong (Jiangmen East) Railway Station. Frequent train service is available and the fastest is just two hours.

Cross-boundary coach: money-saving option

If you have a limited budget and do not mind spending more time on transport, consider taking the cross-boundary coach which takes around four hours and offers a relatively cheap return ticket.

Hong Kong > Zhaoqing

high-speed rail: the shortest journey time

Two trains depart every day from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station for Zhaoqingdong (Zhaoqing East) Station (and one train from Zhaoqingdong (Zhaoqing East) for Hong Kong). The journey takes only 1.5 to two hours. For greater flexibility, take the high-speed rail first from Hong Kong West Kowloon Station to Guangzhounan (Guangzhou South) Station, where you will find more frequent trains going to Zhaoqingdong (Zhaoqing East) Station.

Cross-boundary coach: cheap fare

A return ticket for cross-boundary coaches running between Hong Kong and downtown Zhaoqing costs about HK$200. Choose this route if you want to save money and have time to spare. The journey takes around four hours and you can depart from locations across Hong Kong — the actual time depends on your departure point.
